During out 1st assembly yesterday, we talked about some common positive behaviour expectations that are going to be the focus in our building this year.  These behaviour expectations can be summarised in an easy to remember phrase – “Be Respectful – Be Responsible – Be Safe”.

If all members of the school community – students, staff, parents – remember to follow these important guidelines we will spend our days in an environment that is ideal for learning.

In my brief time at Woodlands School, it is evident that the vast majority of our students have been taught these expectations at home and at school.  Students helping each other carry something to their locker. Students picking up random pieces of garbage in the MPR. Students taking ownership over their supplies. Students walking slowly and calmly down the hallways to and from class. This is great! There will be times when students need to reminded about our expectations, and mistakes will happen.  It is our job as the adults to re-teach these behaviour and give students the necessary skills to make the best decisions when it comes to behaviour.  Check out our school-wide behaviour matrix that we covered at yesterday’s assembly:
